Botany
Saturday, May 10th
Saturday, August 9th
9am - 12noon
These walks are led by a professional botanist in the spring and summer, focusing on native plants and non-native invasive plants in the park. Topics include plant identification, interesting facts and recent research about plants, and human uses of plants. The park has a big list of species, and we often look for rare ones that are in bloom.
Spiders
This NEW family friendly program (just in time for HALLOWEEN) will be led by Victor Rice, a Seattle Urban Nature Guide (SUNguide) with the Seattle Parks Department. Learn about common local spider species, how they interact with the world around them, and the many benefits they provide to our ecosystems. All ages welcome. Creepy Fun!

Saturday, July 12th
Saturday, September 6th
10am - 12noon
These walks are led by a professional ecologist in the summer and fall, focusing on the characteristics of lowland conifer forests and the origins of the park’s forest, as well as native and invasive plants. Topics include interesting research about how forests work, interactions among species, and the impacts of climate change on forest ecosystems. We often look for rare plants.
Mushroom
These walks are led by a professional mycologist in October and November, focusing on the important role of fungi in ecosystems, edible and poisonous species and how to identify them, and human uses of fungi for food and medicines. The park has an impressive list of fungi, and we typically see interesting and edible species.
